The project concerns the perception of the cultural models of masculinity and their influence on gender based discrimination and violence. The project will be carried out with the use of psycho-educational workshops and method of Forum Theatre (based on the methodology of Augusto Boal's Theater of Oppressed).

The project will deepen knowledge of the patterns of masculinity, create a Forum Theater performance in four Polish cities (Warsaw, Lublin, Poznań and Krakow).

In Poland there are many initiatives and materials concerning cultural roles of women and programs offered for women. Relatively few of these initiatives are available with regard to the roles of men. Men are the perpetrators of the greater part of violence. Most men do not realize that gender discrimination and violence against women is a problem for men. Therefore, it is important to educate men and to make them allies of women in the fight against discrimination and violence.

The project methodology onvolve methods of Forum Theatre. It is a group work based on applied drama method, connecting theater and education. Forum Theatre gives the opportunity to reflect, but also to practice certain behaviors from a safe distance - in the world of fiction. Forum Theatre is often is applied with socially disadvantaged groups, to counter their exclusion by providing tools for constructive expression and dealing with oppression. Our vision is to develop the Forum Theatre in the prevention of discriminatory behavior.

In the frame of project we will traing a group of male participants, preparing to lead local educational activities in this subject. The project base on earlier similar work done by organizations and partner groups - Foundation Autonomy and Voices Against Violence.

The project is implemented by the Foundation "Phan Bde" in frame og the Citizens for Democracy Programe, funded by EEA Fund.
